Ironically on this post… I’m asking myself how is it should I start the post. The flow of words didn’t start until I just started writing. The simplicity of how that sounds, to me, is mind boggling. Getting started for me is one of the biggest setbacks that I have when it boils down to executing, and getting to it. Whenever I successfully got down to it. Whenever I got over the bump of how to get started on whatever it is I am doing it always came down to just getting to it.
Yes, think of the Nike and Shia Labeouf’s mutual slogan…

… these are the words that come to the top of my mind. I’ve always found this the easiest way to get started on writing, and in my mind, that is what makes me so good at writing is because I can easily start and produce that flow without a mind blockage. The secret is that I begin by freestyle writing, and you can see that at the beginning of this post too. To get to that point however it can be a difficult struggle to say just get to it, especially if you are dealing with a lot of anxiety and self doubt when it comes down to whatever project that you are doing.

I found dealing with anxiety, self-doubt, imposter syndrome, etc. Those negative feelings acted as a block for me when it came down to writing, completing assignments, doing anything that I would have a morbid fear that I would fail at. It was very difficult to get over that hump of just letting going of that negativity and that fear. I couldn’t just get started. Until I found this method that I am sharing with you now. I finally found, for me, what felt like the secret formula to getting started and executing on what needs to get done. It takes just doing it, getting started without even thinking about it initially. That’s a problem for your subconscious.
When you’ve got all you information, and you are knowledgeable about the subject matter and you’re ready to write, just do it. Start writing without even thinking about the words that you are going to write! This is freestyle writing. The flow will happen almost immediately because you’re letting your subconscious bleed onto the page. Same goes for anything creative. That is how to get started on your projects. This is how you fry over that hump of negativity telling you that you are going to fail, that you don’t belong, all those negative feelings.
I’d love to hear how you get started on your blogs, projects, videos etc. Do you begin by freestyle writing or do you have set timers/cues to get you going? Comment down below 🙂
Great post! I often find myself thinking on paper, so the ideas only flow when I actually take action, instead of sitting there thinking in circles. I do use other methods depending on my mood, but nothing beats simply getting started, even if that means sitting down with pen and paper. Thanks for this post!
